About Us
The Centerville Volunteer Fire Department was established in 1840. The name was changed in 1996 to Centerville Fire/Rescue. We were the first Wayne County Department to offer First Responder medical service to our community.
As of August 2017 we have a Class 4 ISO rating within the Town of Centerville limits and a Class 4X ISO rating in outside the Town limits. Areas that are 5 miles or more from our station, within our jurisdiction, have a Class 10 ISO rating.
Mutual Aid agreements are in place with all Wayne County Fire Departments. We are a member of the IVFA (Indiana Volunteer Firefighters Association) and the Wayne County Firefighters, Inc. We are a proud department and are continually striving to serve our community to the best of our ability.

We are located near the Indiana/Ohio border along Interstate 70. CF/R consists of up to 25 active members. Population of Center Township is approximately 7,900. Our response area covers 44 square miles, with mostly residential and light commercial structures. We run both Fire and EMS calls. We added a second station in September of 2018.
In 2009 we responded to 392 incidents, 2010 we responded to 393 incidents, 2011 we responded to 462 incidents, 2012 we responded to 420 incidents, in 2013 we responded to a record 503 incidents, and in 2014 we responded to 590 incidents. 2015 had 540 calls for service by our members, while 2016 had 476 calls for service. 2017 had 503 calls for service.
Our current apparatus consists of three engines, one tank truck, one rescue truck, one 4x4 grass rig, two medical response vehicles and one command vehicle. Check out the apparatus section for more info and pictures.
